Q: What happens when 2 people who work in the movie industry fall in love?
A: A ridiculously awesome wedding!
Jessie and Eric had both moved to Toronto in pursuit of the movie industry and once met each other they knew they were destined to be together. After looking at a few venues they also knew that the McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinburg is the only spot where they wanted to get married. The gorgeous blend of art, architecture and nature is simply second to none.
A haven for fans of art the McMichael Art Collection sits deep within a forest just outside of a large urban centre. In addition to offering an onsite space for getting ready there is a separate outdoor ceremony space as well as a multitude of paths an outdoor locations for some gorgeous wedding photos.
Knowing that Jessie and Eric worked in the movie industry I tried to find out specifics and whether there would be any pop culture themes and influences. All they shared was, you'll just have to wait and see, but we've put a lot of work into it, boy was I not disappointed.
Every single centre piece was a handcrafted scene from one of their favourite movies, ranging from Harry Potter to Ghostbusters to Star Wars and of course Serenity for the head table (Firefly fans will get this one). I was absolutely blown away, I've built a few scale model projects in my time and I just could not believe the level of detail and thought that went into the centre pieces and the decor. Even looking back I still can't pick my favourite one, it's probably a toss up between Jurassic Park and the Scene from Harry Potter where Harry sees the Stag patronus!
After a brief but beautiful ceremony (full of pop culture references) we landed right at the golden hour; that mixed with the bright greens of the forest canopy created for a perfect backdrop for Jessie and Eric's wedding. The rest of the night was celebrated inside the main hall of the gallery and was full of laughter, tears and cheers.
