An engagement shoot gives us an opportunity to get to know each other and helps to get you comfortable in front of the camera.
It’s a great way to add a sentimental location (where you first met, or got engaged) and you’ll have some awesome photos for your social media/wedding website or to display at your wedding.
Most of our packages include an engagement shoot because we believe there is a lot of value in having that practice before the big day.
Below are a few tips to make your engagement shoot even more special.
01 / location, location, location Who doesn't want to have their engagement photos infront of an epic waterfall in Iceland or in the majestic rockies? (if you're down, we're down to go!) In all seriousness we found that the best locations are the most sentimental ones. The university campus where you met, the conservation area that you frequent with your fur baby or the winery or other epic location where you got engaged. We also have many suggestions in case you need them!
02 / season Can you picture yourself strolling on a beautiful beach in the peak of summer, the deep woods in the fall, laying in the snow in winter or meandering through a field in Spring? We're happy to shoot whenever you'd like, as a rule of thumb we advise to shoot in a season that's different from your wedding. We also like to stay away from early Spring when the snow starts to melt to about mid May when the leaves start to come back.
03 / time of day Sunset, or anytime around when the sun rises or sets. With that you get that beautiful soft light, long shadows and those romantic sunset vibes. It's our favourite time to shoot for a reason.
04 / what to wear That depends on where we're going and what style we're trying to achieve. A suit in the middle of a forest (unless it's on a wedding day) doesn't really work. Try to stay away from wild designs and graphics, solid colours and simple patterns work best. Bonus points if you match.
05 / how to pose In a word, don't. We'll be happy to provide some tips on the day of if you need them and we'll use a variety of prompts to get you warmed up and moving. At the end of the day we're looking for those real candid moments that scream "wow, that's really us!" and "look at us, we're crazy in love!"
